The brief should be filed any day now . . .

Everything now seems to be ready for the brief to be filed.


06/21/2012Record on appeal filed    clerk's transcript 184 volumes (50, 347 pp.) and reporter's transcript 143 volumes (21, 830 pp.), including ASCII discs and material under seal. clerk's transcript includes 36, 361 pp. of juror questionnaires.
06/21/2012Letter sent to:    counsel advising record on appeal certified for accuracy was filed on June 21, 2012.

First, the State has a certain length of time to file its rebuttal brief, and they can also ask for extensions of time. Then the defendant files a counter-rebuttal brief, and can also ask for extensions of time for this brief, too. Then, the CASC schedules oral arguments, which will take place usually in no more than an hour on a single day. Then, it may be a couple of years before the Court rules. So we are still looking at a couple of years, but at least the train is moving out of the station.
